Hi, I’m Fantasia Abercrombie, the Creator, Founder, and heart behind Chubbaboo, alongside my loving husband and best friend, Rick.

To me, Chubbaboo is so much more than teddy bears. It is about sharing love with people who may need a little extra sunshine in their day. No matter your age, gender, or where you are in life, everyone needs love, cuddles, encouragement, and a friend who makes them smile.

The name Chubbaboo came from a very silly place. I’ve always loved chubby things with big cute eyes. There was just something about them that made me laugh and smile. I always wanted to squeeze them, cuddle them, and keep them close. One day the word “Boo” popped into my head and somehow Chubbaboo was born. It became our own little twist on peek-a-boo, except now we say, “You’ve been Chubbaboo’d!”

While Chubbaboo is a bear company, it is also so much more than that. Chubbaboo is about creating moments that make people feel good. Whether you’re listening to a Chubbaboo song, coloring a Chubbaboo coloring sheet, collecting a keychain, attending a Chubbaboo party, meeting our mascot, or opening a Chubbaboo Bear Box, every experience is designed to bring joy, comfort, laughter, and connection.

There is also a deeper purpose behind everything we do.

A portion of Chubbaboo proceeds will help support families affected by stillbirth and infertility. This cause is very close to my heart because I have watched several people I love experience the heartbreaking loss of a stillborn baby. Even years later, many continue to carry that grief while finding the strength to move forward each day.

My connection to this cause is personal as well. I am one of many women who have struggled with infertility. In a family where fertility came naturally to everyone else, I found myself facing severe fibroids that caused ongoing health challenges. Eventually, I had to make the difficult decision to undergo a total hysterectomy for my health and future well-being.

It was one of the hardest decisions of my life.

For many women, the loss of the possibility of motherhood can feel like losing a piece of yourself. It is a pain that is often difficult to explain and sometimes difficult for others to fully understand. During that season, my husband Rick became my rock. He stayed present through every emotion, every fear, and every difficult day. Sometimes the greatest gift someone can give is simply being there, and he reminded me time and time again that everything would be okay.

Those experiences changed me. They taught me that so many people are carrying silent battles. Whether someone is facing infertility, pregnancy loss, grief, loneliness, or simply a difficult time in life, everyone deserves kindness, support, and the chance to feel seen.

That is why Chubbaboo exists.

My hope is that every bear, every gift box, every song, every event, and every smile created through Chubbaboo reminds someone that they are loved, valued, and never alone.

Because sometimes all it takes is a little love, a warm hug, and a Chubbaboo friend.
